Can the flexible TPU filament be used in the case of printing a dental fixture?
There are a Ton of issues with using this type of material. First off there is no way anything that comes out of your FDM printer will be sanitary enough to meet the requirements for medical applications. Your nozzle might even be contain Lead. Last you would need this printer to be cleaned to clean room standards. As well as stored and operated in one..
Second I have not heard of a flexible material that meets FDA requirements. (which is not the same as does not) You have to worry about even the additives they add for color. Or straight up contamination of the material.
I do want to mention that there are people who use SLA printers for dental items. I cannot say how SLA would meet food or medical grade requirements. My guess is a lack of regulation.

Has anybody taken apart a da Vinci Jr. 3D printer nozzle? My first time trying to clean the nozzle after it jammed, I broke off the filament immediately before it gets heated, inside the nozzle assembly. The XYZprinting video, "da Vinci Jr. 1.0 - Advanced Nozzle Cleaning", shows the filament coming out easily when heated, but now I'm seeing that I should have cut the filament by the feeder... tried pushing from the other direction with the large cleaning tool (as shown in video). I also tried heating the tip of the filament and pushing it to the jammed filament inside the nozzle
This question is a bit of an edge case for what 3D Printing SE covers, but it has to do with topics most closely related to 3D printing. I've found a plethora of ways to convert SVG (vector graphics) into g code, but I can't seem to find any way to take a series of g code movements and convert them into lines as a vector graphic. Can I use a pin header with the molex on my Nema 17 motors and a bread board to wire up the z-axis motors in series? Also, do breadboards and pin headers have ratings, the way that wires do?
if the problem was caused by too high a temperature (this is ABS filament) and maybe the teflon will be too soft to function as designed, so if I go back to PLA filament, maybe it is more likely to work without
I've heard of 3D printed ears, limbs, and muscles. I assume if you were to attach one of these ears to a person, it wouldn't have a sense of touch and other properties that a real ear would have. So which properties of real human parts does 3D printing allow and which properties is 3D printing not capable of reproducing using current technology. And how do you predict those technologies will change in the future to further improve 3D printing? Also can someone explain how human cells can be printed? Would this involve some kind of cell-plastic filament? How would the cells survive, etc
I'm considering purchasing Filabot or some similar filament maker. What kind of plastic can I use to produce my own filament? Can I use any type of plastic or just specific printable filaments? Can I also mix different types of filament together or only one type at a time?
